Biography - Edith Frank

Edith Frank, née Holländer, was born in Aachen on January 16, 1900. On May 12, 1925 she married Otto Frank. They had two daughters: Margot Betty Frank (born on February 16, 1926) and Anne Marie Frank (born on June 12, 1929).

 

August 1933 After the Nazis come to power in Germany, her husband Otto Frank emigrates from Frankfurt am Main to Amsterdam.
1934 Edith Frank and her daughters Margot Frank and Anne Frank follow Otto to Amsterdam.
1942 More stringent measures come into force against the Jewish population in the Netherlands.
July 5, 1942 Margot Frank receives a summons to report for transport to a forced-labour camp in Germany.
July 1942 The Frank family goes into hiding in the secret annex at Prinsengracht 263.
August 4, 1944 Betrayal, arrest and deportation of those in hiding.
August 8, 1944 Sent to Westerbork concentration camp (NL).
September 3, 1944 Edith Frank is deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp (PL) on the last transport from Westerbork.
October 28, 1944 Edith Frank is separated from her daughters, who are moved to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp (D).
January 1945 Edith Frank dies of exhaustion in the concentration camp.

Anne Frank

Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929. She was given the autograph album that she used as a diary for her 13th birthday. Following her death, it gained worldwide significance as an important historical document.

Otto Frank

As the sole survivor of the Frank family, Otto Frank devoted his life to spreading the message of his daughter Anne and her diary until his death in 1980.

Margot Frank

Margot Frank was three years older than her sister Anne. After the war she wanted to emigrate to the Palestine of the time.
