Sertshang Orphanage Association / Nepal
The Sertshang Orphanage Home in Kathmandu provides 48 children and teenagers, aged 5 to 17 years, with a loving and safe home. Most are orphans whose lives had frequently been marked by famine, violence and neglect before they were accepted into the children's home. Only very few of them had been able to attend school.
In Kathmandu, individualised solutions for water supply are required because there is no centralised supply. Until recently, the Sertshang Orphanage Home had to buy water. A public water supply system is not expected to become available in the foreseeable future, so the Sertshang Orphanage Home Association decided to ensure the children's home's water supply via groundwater. This project was realised in 2010.
