With the participation of the ANNNE FRANK FONDS Basel, the 25th Forum of the Else Lasker-Schüler Society will take place in Amsterdam from 8 to 11 May 2025 to mark the 80th anniversary of the deaths of Else Lasker-Schüler (22 January 1945 in Jerusalem) and Anne Frank (February 1945 in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp).
 

In addition to a staged reading ‘Writing to Live - Anne Frank and Else Lasker-Schüler’, the programme includes various lectures on exile in the Netherlands and the German occupation of the Netherlands in the 1930s and 1940s, a cabaret programme, a concert with settings of poems by Else Lasker-Schüler, a literary walk and, finally, a lecture ‘Why is antisemitism not dying out’ with the EU Antisemitism Commissioner Dr Katharina von Schnurbein.
 

The events will take place at the Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam OBA (Oosterdokskade 143).
